When I was first introduced to directors’ and officers’ liability insurance, the now infamous IPO Securities Litigation was in its early stages. The consolidated litigation represented nearly 300 individual lawsuits that were filed during one of the most intense and volatile periods in the industry. After several years of collective negotiations, it resulted in one of the most creative partial settlement agreements ever constructed by D&O carriers, plaintiff and defense counsel and a tenacious mediator.As a participant in that mediation process, I interacted with every major insurance carrier in the business, and formed strong relationships with them under a unique and powerful set of circumstances. From that experience, as well as my background as defense counsel in a major law firm, I have learned how to better serve clients in every industry and claim situation imaginable.
I’ve handled claims for public and private companies of all sizes. And because I have been in a number of different roles and have seen claims and litigation management from a number of perspectives, I provide clients with the information and advice they need most. Most importantly, I can help them avoid future conflict.
What does this mean? What happens next? What can I do to avoid this in the future? These are the questions clients always ask during the claims process. I understand how each person should act and react in nearly every circumstance because I’ve likely been there before.
